Train Day Event Features Model Trains of Miniature, Garden, Lego and Even a Kids Train to Ride

It’s not easy to explain, but model trains capture many of the hearts and minds of kids and adults alike.

Come see for yourself at Cleveland Metroparks annual free “Train Day” event on Saturday, June 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at CanalWay Center in Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation in Cuyahoga Hts.

Train-lovers can enjoy viewing model train exhibits (G-scale, HO-scale, N-scale, S-scale, Legos, and more), exhibits with local train organizations, guided trestle hikes, listening in to train traffic conversations, crafts, movies about trains shown all day, and more!

                Visitors can enjoy live music throughout the day on the R&R stage, featuring the sounds of Barb Withee & Jon Mosey at 10:30 a.m., First String Band at noon, Ed McDade at 1 p.m., and First String Band again at 3 p.m.

                And, head over to the conductor as he welcomes everyone to take a stroll down the Hobo Trail to discover what life was like for “America’s traveling workers,” see the hobo code through the hobo signs, and maybe even strike up a conversation with a few hobos.

                Plus, kid’s train rides, ($1/person), EarthWords Nature Shop selling unique train items, and refreshments for sale.

                And, while there, visitors can enter-to-win family 4-packs of passes for the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, Dennison Railroad Depot Museum, EnterTRAINment Junction, and Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad.

                CanalWay Center is located on Whittlesey Way, off the East 49th Street entrance of Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, between Grant Avenue and Canal Road in Cuyahoga Heights – just off the I-77/Grant Avenue exit.
